For years prior to the introduction of Pink Lat Packs, we at Yale New Haven Hospital relied on reusable devices for patient positioning in the lateral-decubitus position. Particularly during kidney transplant (laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy) surgeries, which require a modified lateral position, patient movement/slippage as well as skin-shear were constant concerns.
