Healthcare Worker Safety

Addressing the Challenge

Xodus Medical's core focus is Making Surgery Safer. An important component of operating room and overall-hospital safety programs is an emphasis on healthcare worker injury prevention. Xodus Medical takes a multifaceted approach to reducing healthcare worker injury with the following solutions:

Slip, Trip and Fall Prevention in the Workplace

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics [2009], the incidence rate of lost-workday injuries from slips, trips, and falls (STFs) was 90% greater than the average rate for all other private industries combined. STFs as a whole are the second most common cause of lost-workday injuries in hospitals.1

Sharps Safety: Meet OSHA's Engineering & Work Practice Controls

Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens from needlesticks and other sharps injuries is a serious problem, resulting in approximately 385,000 needlesticks and other sharps-related injuries to hospital-based healthcare personnel each year. Sharps injuries are primarily associated with occupational transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), but they have been implicated in the transmission of more than 20 other pathogens.2

Cross Contamination Prevention

16 million unnecessary days of hospital stay and large amounts of spending is caused by Healthcare-Associated Infections (HCAI), according to the World Health Organization (WHO)3 Xodus Medical is committed to reducing cross contamination and exposure to infectious materials.
